Ola, I’m Max, designer at Brendly and I never actually write blogs. Nevertheless, I took the time to write down the five biggest design trends of 2025, with my personal opinions on these web design trends. So let’s dive in so you know what web design trends to expect in 2025 if you have a website created.
Bold minimalism
Let’s start with a personal favorite: bold minimalism. On paper, I would describe this as a powerful combination of distinct (often large) shapes on a ‘minimalist’ background or layout. It a somewhat rawer way of design which contrasts with the smoothness of ‘corporate’ websites. I like to apply this in my designs and, in addition to this trend, I also apply typical corporate elements which I then magnify. I try to create asymmetrical designs so that it really stands out and is different. That way it is truly quirky and more timeless than the trend. This makes an impact. Below is an example I made up to explain it better.

The integration of AI
More of a general trend that strikes me is the integration of AI into web design. For example, we also have a chatbot on our homepage that can tell you more about having a website created. The trend is a nice integration that blends nicely with the rest of the web design, but is functionally striking enough.
Dark mode / space
You see it a lot right now, especially on hip tech websites. Everything is based on a dark palette. The aesthetic that takes inspiration from dark fashion and space. Think dark color schemes and space elements. A well-known example in the tech corner is GitHub. Personally, I find it overused and predictable, something you just don’t want with a web design. It lacks innovation and excitement, something I am very much looking for. Below is a dark mode example.

Retro (and the combo with future)
Retro I continue to find interesting. In a modern application, retro gives a nice combination of nostalgia and style. With modern applications, this remains strong and makes for a distinctive web design. There is also plenty of experimentation in combining futuristic visual with nostalgic style elements. The old familiar from a fresh and innovative perspective.

3D space and micro interactions
When I create a web design it has to be converted into html/css/js etc. The applications in 3D space and the options for micro interactions have become more and more accessible and better because of the capabilities that html and css now have. So here we see a big trend. The small, subtle animations and interactions really make web design come alive and give the whole thing a tactile feel. We can also render 3D in the browser these days and even build it with CSS. A fun trend where we like to push the edges when clients have a website created with us.
In my opinion, these are the most important trends and developments for web designs in 2025. Wondering what we can do for you? Get in touch with us!
