Although WordPress once began as a simple blogging platform, it has since become so much more than that. Databases, portfolio or marketing website: it’s all possible with WordPress, although the standard tools don’t always provide the solution in building your pages. That’s why I like to use Elementor in day-to-day website development. I update you on some useful advantages of Elementor as a page builder in WordPress.
In the beginning, it was all pretty simple: when you created a post or page in WordPress, you had a field where text and images could be placed. But soon the conclusion came that that wasn’t enough, and so page builders came around the corner: plugins that allow you to set up complex pages relatively easily.
What is Elementor anyway?
Elementor is one of those page builders and one of the biggest in the business today. As a page builder, Elementor allows you to easily set up full pages without having to write a line of code yourself. This can be done in a simple form based on pre-made templates, or completely custom using your own designs.
Because I have to deal with limited code in Elementor, it allows me to think more about the structure of a page and create special solutions for special issues. How do we set up your webshop in the best possible way? How do we make sure that content is always easy to find everywhere? And of course: how do we bring in more leads for you?
But what makes Elementor so different from other page builders like Guttenberg, WP Bakery or Divi Builder, for example? I’ve listed a few advantages for you:
Full creative freedom
It often seems like an easy solution: buy a template for a few dollars, then the design phase can be skipped and your website can quickly go live. Until you come to the conclusion that ten more websites have exactly the same design, only with a different logo above it.
Elementor offers almost complete creative freedom and allows you to arrange pages however you like. Large photos, rounded corners, trendy fonts: it’s all possible. It allows me to develop websites specifically designed together with our designer to fit your corporate identity seamlessly, without the limitations of off-the-shelf websites.
Built-in marketing tools
If you’ve set up a WordPress website more often than not, the bevy of plugins for marketing purposes probably looks familiar to you. Forms tool here, pop-up tool there – before you know it, you have numerous additional plugins running and then you have to link them together.
Elementor solves this by providing built-in tools for your essential marketing plans. A built-in forms tool makes it easy to collect responses and forward them to CRM tools like MailChimp or ActiveCampaign. The pop-up tool lets you create convenient layovers and pop-ups that appear when it’s needed for you. All without any extra load on your website.
Seamless integration with other WordPress systems
When building a website, I often come to the conclusion that WordPress’ default “post types” are not enough. After all, it’s not convenient to mix white papers, events, team members and others into your bucket of blog posts.
Fortunately, Elementor offers deep integrations with several plugins, such as Advanced Custom Fields, Rank Math and WooCommerce. This makes it easy to set up special pages for your products in WooCommerce, set up metatexts with Rank Math and create templates for your custom post types.
Always see what you are doing
It was perhaps the biggest relief for me with the switch to Elementor: the fact that you can always see what you are doing. Unlike WP Bakery, for example, in Elementor you always have a live view of your work.
This way you can immediately see what you are changing and what effect this will have on the rest of your page. A new image, a different background color or perhaps a slightly larger text. The result is immediately visible and no different from what a visitor will see at the frontend of the website.
